Larch & Lantern Candle Co.

Small-batch candles in heavy amber glass, wrapped in a label printed from a linocut of the larches at dusk.

Our candles

Made for the hour the larches catch the last light.

Larch & Lantern is a small-batch candle maker in northwest Montana. We hand-pour every candle into heavy amber glass, then wrap it in a cream paper label printed from a linocut: golden larches at dusk, a mountain lake, and one lantern glowing in the branches.

Three scents, one label. Light one when the day goes quiet.

Meet the three scents
A lit candle in amber glass with a cream paper label, on a weathered wooden sill against a deep green wall.
Lit on the workshop sill.

The collection

Three scents. One band of color each.

Every label carries the same linocut. A single band of color at its foot tells you which candle you are holding.

Three lit candles in amber glass on dark green linen, their labels banded in larch gold, ember orange and smoke blue.

    Larch Smoke

A ridge of larches gone gold in October, and the first thread of woodsmoke rising from a cabin below.

For the first cold evening of fall.

    Label bandLarch gold
  2. No. 02

    Ember Hollow

The hour after the fire settles. Low coals, a warm glow, and a long evening with nowhere else to be.

For late nights and slow talk.

    Label bandEmber orange
  3. No. 03

    First Snow

Cold air off the peaks and a clean hush over the trees, the morning the whole valley wakes up soft.

For winter mornings and quiet rooms.

    Label bandSmoke blue

The label

The label is a linocut.

One carved block, printed onto cream paper: golden larches at dusk, the mountains, the lake, and a single lantern lit in the branches.

It wraps every candle we pour. Only the band at the foot changes.
